5 Tips to Create Your Own Wedding Drinks Bar

Make Sure The Bar is Well Stocked

The last thing you want is for the bar to run dry halfway through your wedding. On the other hand, you also don’t want to overstock too much, wasting your money. To calculate the amount of drinks you will need, base it on the number of drinks per head. For moderate drinkers, account for approximately two drinks per head, and for heavier drinkers, up to four.

Keep in mind that you may also want to control the amount that your guests drink, and the amount of alcohol you stock gives you complete control over overall alcohol consumption.

Choose Signature Drinks

If you don’t want to stock the ingredients for every cocktail under the sun, create a set menu with signature cocktails. To keep things simple, choose your own and your spouse-to-be’s favourite drinks and add them to the menu. This is a great way to not only save on ingredients and preparation, but it gives you another chance to add a personal touch to your wedding.

4 Reasons to Add a Drinks Fridge to your Party Hire

Every party needs drinks, and as we head into spring and summer, the drinks of choice are bound to be served ice cold. Usually, this would mean packing your fridge full of drinks and storing the rest in eskys that slowly become lukewarm throughout the event.

Stock Up On Bottle Openers

You can have all the drinks in the world, but without the tools to open and make them, they aren’t worth much. Make sure you are well stocked with bottle openers, cocktail shakers, stirrers, wine openers and the like. Some of the easiest DIY wedding drinks bars are self-serve for beer and wine only. If you choose this route, make sure you leave a few openers lying around by the drinks and in easily accessible spots on the day.

Make Sure You Stock the Standards

If you’re serving spirits on top of your signature cocktails, it’s best practice to stock the standards. Make sure the basics, being vodka, gin, rum, and whiskey, are all available, though you can get away with not serving any spirits at all. A good rule of thumb is to make sure you have beer, wine, and basic soft drinks at the very least. Anything on top of that is up to you.

Don’t Forget the Ice

One thing you don’t want to be caught without at your DIY drinks bar is ice. From keeping beers cold and ready to grab for your guests in ice buckets, to keeping your signature cocktails chilled, ice comes in handy at any bar.
