5 ICY POLES YOU CAN MAKE AT HOME

FRUITY AND NUTRITIOUS

For those who are health conscious, you can still enjoy a delicious cooling icy pole on a hot day with a simple fruit icy pole. These types of ice blocks are super simple. You just need to blend up the fruit of your choice with coconut water or water, then put it in moulds and freeze for a healthy snack. Some flavours to try out are strawberry and mint, watermelon and blackberries, and kiwi and apple.

FIZZY LEMONADE

This is one of the easiest recipes you will ever make because it just takes three ingredients. All you need is lemon juice, powdered sugar, and soda or mineral water. Just stir the lemon juice and powdered sugar together until the sugar is dissolved, stir in some soda water, pour it into a mould and freeze solid. You’re left with refreshing, ice-cold lemonade on a stick.

SMOOTHIE

Are you a big smoothie fan? Why not make your daily smoothie into an icy pole during the hotter months? Most smoothies can be frozen in moulds to make awesome and unique icy poles. Whether you’re a spinach and kale drinker or a banana yogurt fan, making your smoothies into icy poles is the perfect way to cool down on a hot day and get in some fruit and veggies while you’re at it.

THICK SHAKE

Just as a frozen smoothie makes an icy pole, a frozen thick shake makes an excellent ice block too. This is of course not as healthy as the smoothie route, but for a once-in-a-while treat, you can make your favourite thick shake and freeze it in icy pole moulds to make a decadent, cooling treat.

CLASSIC CORDIAL

Lastly, if you don’t have much on hand but know you need something refreshing to beat the heat, you can’t go past the classic cordial icy pole. Just whip up a batch of your favourite cordial in some ice block moulds and let them freeze. In a few hours you’ll be able to enjoy something much more exciting than just a glass of fruit punch.
